vacation and more

Ya, it's been a while. I can never seem to remember to write. And since my memory is terrible, I guess it'll be pretty short. We just returned from a 3 week "vacation" in California. Tony was testing for the Riverside Police Department and the San Diego Police Department. We don't know how it'll turn out. We thought they would be hiring right then and there but they weren't. So now we're not planning on going that route. The California weather was PERFECT while we were there. Well, during the day. At night it was COLD! we went to the beach one day. I had a fever and DeVon napped half the time there so I guess that wasn't really the best day. We saw lots of family. DeVon got to hang out with his cousins Lucius and Lily. It was nice when Lucius, who's 9, was around. DeVon just sticks to him like a little puppy. Thinks he's the funniest thing in town. After a while, Lily and DeVon became accustomed to each other and DeVon started copying everything she did. Like jumping on the bed. The whole time we were in California DeVon was sooo happy being able to be outside all the time. And he loved the jacuzzi. The pool was freezing so he wouldn't get in.

I hate being outnumbered by boys! :) Every morning Tony turns on the World Cup and neither DeVon or Tony will let me change it. Soccer is one of DeVon's favorite sports so he didn't mind watching it instead of cartoons. Oh yeah, one day Tony and his dad and brother were playing risk and DeVon learned how to say the word "dice". He says it so funny it's cute. If anyone has any toddlers, I would strongly suggest getting the movie "Letter Factory" from Leap Frog. DeVon watches it almost every day and it really teaches you how to say the letter sounds and what the letters look like. As of right now he can recognize 'B', 'F', 'K', 'O', and 'S'. His first letter he liked recognizing was 'B' so anywhere we went, we would look for B's. Then reading Dr. Suess's "The Foot Book" has helped him memorize some of the other letters because the title on the cover is so big. We just point to the letters he knows and he says the sound it makes and every once in a while we'll introduce a new one. Like today he was watching the Letter Factory movie and really got into the 'W'. Later he was playing with an alphabet toy he has and got excited about the W. So yes, I strongly recommend that video!

So a couple weeks ago, I decided to join the Air Force! It's a perfect fit for me. I took the ASVAB on Thursday and got a 98 out of a possible 99. So basically I get to choose any career field I would like to go in. I'm trying for Computer Programming or Cyber Surety. I'm so excited! I'll report to boot camp in no more than 5 months from now. I think all I have left to do before I can get a report date is get my physical done, which will probably be next week. Wish me luck!

That's pretty much all I have for now. My goal is to write twice a month. We'll see how that goes.

  1. We sure enjoyed having you all with us! It was so much fun to be around DeVon, too. Thanks for coming and staying with us. I am so proud of you for getting a 98 - what a great accomplishment! I just know you will do a great job in the AF.
